Our bishop Philip Egan has asked us to be are part of the Formation for Mission team, led by our own Sr. Hyacinthe, which is responsible for Catechetical formation, preparation to the Sacraments, Children's liturgy, Adult formation, RCIA, Higher Education Programmes, Courses and Events.
We are thrilled to be able to contribute to the work of catechesis and catechists formation, placing our skills and experience at the service of our diocese.
Our community is led by Sr Julie, our prioress, who is coordinating our common work in catechesis and Faith formation at the service of the diocese. She has completed a Maryvale Catechist Certificate (MCC) and works mainly with children and young people in primary and secondary schools, either in the priory or in school visits. Sr Maria has extensive experience with adults, children and young people, but more particularly in the areas of youth ministry, youth retreats and camps, and preparation for confirmation. Sr Maria currently runs the youth meetings and catechesis which take place weekly on Friday evenings at St Boniface Parish, Southampton. Sr Maria leads the Fanning the Flame ministry which reaches out to children and young people across the country.
Sr Michelle has served our community in the past as our Prioress and will be participating as a member of our Formation for Mission team.
Sr Rosaleen has completed an ecclesiastical Bachelor of Divinity which included an extensive applied dimension in the area of catechesis. She works with the administration for the Formation for Mission team for our diocese.
Sr Veronica, who has also completed an ecclesiastical Bachelor of Divinity for ecclesial service, is particularly experienced in the areas of sacramental preparation. She runs a monthly adult catechesis group, 'knowing and growing', as well as a weekly session in Springhill Catholic School, Southampton open to all the children. She is a qualified and experienced teacher, and holds a diploma in Catechesis as well as a Diploma in Evangelisation and Parish Ministry. She specializes in training catechists, particularly for running the Echoes programme.
Sr Hyacinthe has completed an ecclesiastical Bachelor in Philosophy, and a Masters in Religious Education and Catechesis. She is currently Academic tutor and supervisor for the M.A. programme at the Maryvale Institute. Sr Hyacinthe is the translator of Come follow me catechesis for children and the author of the Anchor resource for adult catechesis, which prepares parents alongside their children to understand the Mass and Confession.
Sr Mary Benedicta and Sr Mary Catherine are gaining catechetical experience, and are continuing their formation. They work with children and teenagers, and contribute regularly to youth groups and retreats.
